WWW stands for World Wide Web, the Web, the internet.
WWW also stands for Wild Wild West.

The similarity is not  coincident, because the Web is the new West.  It’s also a land of opportunity, yet a place players need to know how to keep out of  harm.

It’s easy to stay wise in the Web.
Follow those 5 rules, while you are surfing the internet.

1. Don’t believe anything you read on the Web, unless you know it's from a reliable source.

Reason:  Anyone can create a beautiful, professional website under $20, because it’s a land of chance .  Like travel salesmen in the old West, they might sell real deals, and also they could sell “health” remedies.

2. For every topic you search on the web, check at least THREE different websites, before you make up your mind.

Reason: Most people on the Web are good citizens, but the information they post on the websites  ONLY  represents their point of view.  Like newspaper, we could get two different copies of newspaper, reporting the same event with total opposite views.

3. Shop only with the websites  your family members and your friends have heard of.

Reason: There are many good shops
on the web, but their security may not be good.  Imagine you walking into a small shop on the main street,  and writing a check for a new pair of shoes.  In that night a thief breaks into the shop and takes away 2500 pairs of shoes, and your personal check.  He then forges it from $25 to $2500, and cashes it on your loss.

More notable shops have better security.  That’s why they can stay trustworthy on the wild web, and still keep their goods in warehouses.

4. There is NO something out of nothing in this world, WWW included.

Reason:  As Earl Nightingale said in The Strangest Secret,  there is NO something out of nothing.  This rule applies universally, both in the real world and on the Web.  The web is still a world, identical with this real world we live in.  Even though we can only reach the web by keyboards and mouses, still the web is a world created by human. Therefore, any rules applied to this human world are equally true of the web world.

5. Stay informed, and keep learning.

Reason:  Now you know the web is the new West.  If you want to have fun, recall in the old West a sheriff would always says, “I will let you know if anything new comes up, but you will need to learn one or two new tricks to stay alive.”

Remember, once you step on the Web, you are in the West.  Enjoy yourself, and play wisely.
